Bio

Antonio de Jesús was born in the Dominican Republic in 1980. At the age of 13, he was introduced to painting at Conde's Studio, where he met most of the well-known artists of the community, such as Nicolas Adames, Maximo Ortiz, Capi Daguendó and others. Three years later Antonio met Mariachi Albuquerque, a recognized and respected artist whose studio he studied and worked at as an art teacher for three years. In 1997, Antonio de Jesús was selected from the student group to represent the San Pedro de Macoris student community at the Cuban Arts Festival in Havana, Cuba.

Later the same year, Antonio was honored with both the first and third prizes in the "Monuments of the City" Contest of San Pedro de Macoris, winning a full scholarship to the Universidad Central del Este, Dominican Republic. At the age of 19, he also won the first prize in mural painting in the "Cleaning the City" Competition of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. At the age of 21 Antonio won a two year full tuition scholarship to Altos de Chavon Design School, Dominican Republic, where two years later he again won a full tuition scholarship to the Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Antonio soon established himself on the New York / New Jersey art scene, participating in numerous exhibitions and art festivals. His works are held in several private collections in the United States and the Dominican Republic. One painting was recently acquired by the Hoboken Historical Museum in Hoboken, New Jersey. In addition to painting, Antonio also works as a graphic designer.

Antonio de Jesús has dedicated his artistic career to the style of realism, after exploring impressionism - still one of his favorite techniques. His longstanding passion for murals emerges in his city landscape paintings. Antonio de Jesús likes to work with detail in his paintings to create traditional classic pieces.
